The North Anglia group of Raynet, originally known as the West Norfolk Raynet group - in whose local government area it operates, exists within one of the parts of the East Coast of England most seriously afflicted on the night of January 31st 1953, when a ferocious storm tide, driven by gale force winds, broke through all defences to wreak devastation along the entire coastline of the eastern and northern sides of the county.

 Two Major public events occur each year in the grounds of the Royal House of Sandringham. In late June, the event is the British Carriage Driving Trials - incorporated within the Country Fayre.

 Later, during July, comes the colourful Sandringham Flower Show, graced for many years by the patronage of HM Queen Elizabeth, the Queen Mother, and attended by visitors from all over the UK.


Road races of various lengths have always featured in the leisure calendars of West Norfolk; the courses round the lakes at Leziate were for several years an annual spectacle. The Wissey Marathon and it's variants at Stoke Ferry has long been a perennial attraction, especially for the Ryston Runners Club, and is still a well attended event today.


As the Norfolk countryside is amenable to equestrian activities, sponsored Horse Rides are a common sight at weekends, and the North Anglia group are frequently requested by the St John's user service to provide communications between their units dispersed along the lanes, where the undulating lowlands make it difficult to maintain contact for much of the time.

Cycle rides are also a popular pastime in the county. The 100 mile ride from Castle Acre, which featured in the calendar for several years, being the largest.
